Postnatal Doula 3 hour sessions (ad hoc)

Service Description

I have resumed postnatal doula sessions working only with one client at a time. No two doula sessions are alike. I describe these sessions as a grandma-type (minus harmful opinions!) 'wrap-around' care. Postnatal Doula sessions are very mother based, and surround the empotional and practical needs of the mother so she can get proper rest and recover after the birth. Examples of what sessions might include (but not limited to) - providing simple, nourishing meals -general tidy ups -hold baby while mum rests -ensuring mums basic daily needs are met. Has she been able to have a shower, eat, sleep, use the toilet? -simple laundry services- running machines, hanging out, and folding laundry -allowing mum to debrief the birth -gentle guidance (if mum wants) with winding baby, washing baby or baby wearing -help with household pets -care for older children Of course if mum is breastfeeding I bring that expertise with me, helping her to establish her milk supply and the baby's latch in the best possible way. Listening and empathy are part of the emotional support side, and can help prevent postnatal depression. My aim is to replace any axious worry with a atmophere of nuturing and bonding with the new addition to the family.
